Health-e
A mobile health insurance app aimed at simplifying the user experience for policy holders. The goal was to create an intuitive interface that allows users to easily manage their policies, file claims, find healthcare providers, and access important information on the go.
1. Market research
My research was not limited to health insurance only, but the health industry apps. This allowed me to gather a holistic view of market trends and needs and then being moving on to zeroing in to the insurance industry specifically. The market research revealed key strengths and weaknesses in existing health insurance apps. The focus on personalization, simplified navigation, and easy access to important information became central to my design.
2. Personas
I developed two key personas to guide the design process: Busy Professional and Family Caregiver. These personas represent distinct user groups with unique needs and behaviors, helping shape the app's features and user experience.
Busy Professional
The Busy Professional is a young, tech-savvy individual who values efficiency and convenience. They often manage their health insurance on the go and need quick access to essential information like policy details, claims status, and provider search. This persona prioritizes a seamless, intuitive interface that allows them to perform tasks in just a few taps, without unnecessary steps. Key design considerations for this persona include a streamlined dashboard, easy navigation, and features like digital ID cards and claim filing that can be accessed with minimal effort.
Family Caregiver
The Family Caregiver persona is responsible for managing the health insurance and medical needs of multiple family members. They require more in-depth functionality to track various policies, claims, and appointments. This user values clarity and organization, needing features like a family management dashboard, reminders for doctor visits, and the ability to monitor claims and benefits for each family member. For this persona, the design focuses on making it easy to switch between accounts, access detailed information, and manage multiple profiles efficiently.
3. Journey mapping
“Casually browsing their phone when they receive a notification that their medical bill is due”
“Just finished a visit with their GP for some discomfort they are feeling. Seeing a specialist was recommended”
4. Wireframes
After completing the research, developing the personas, and mapping out the user journeys, I proceeded to the wireframe creation phase for the health insurance app. During this stage, I focused on translating the insights gained from the personas and user journeys into concrete design elements that cater specifically to the needs of the Busy Professional and Family Caregiver.
